Cape gardenia is an exceptional tree which is not commonly found in nature. It has dark green, glossy leaves and bears striking, sweet scented flowers. The latter last only about one day. Rothmannia capensis is a medium/small tree. It is slow growing and has a non-aggressive root system. The tree bears spherical fruit, about the size of a tennis ball. Cape gardenia is a tree for the connoisseur. Plant it in your garden as something out of the ordinary.
