Wild Plum withstands light frost and is moderately drought tolerant. It is a fast growing evergreen tree. Harpephyllum caffrum has large once compounded dark green leaves. Young growth has a redish color. The tree exhibits a neat, straight growth form and has a non-aggressive root system. Wild Plum bears beautiful red fruit which attracts many bird species. Harpephyllum caffrum becomes large and should only be planted in large gardens. If you have a small garden, plant Wild Plum in a large pot or container and prune it regularly. Harpephyllum caffrum is a popular garden tree.
