Flacourtia indica | Governors-plum trees for sale
Governors-plum is a medium/small tree with a shrub-like growth habit. One can of course prune it to form a single trunk or multi-trunk tree. In this case the tree has a striking patchy, orange trunk. Flacourtia indica grows medium-fast, has dark green foliage, and fine, sharp thorns. The species in known for its variety in leaf forms as well as the size and growth of its thorns. Governors-plum is deciduous and its leaves turn deep red in late autumn. This tree is a good choice for a security fence. It can also serve as a screening plant. Although it grows over a wide area North of Pretoria, it is not freely available at nursery retail outlets.
